MAHASHIVRATRI :- The festival of Lord Shiva & his beloved Parvatiji.

This festival falls between mid February and March.
The word Mahashivratri means " The night of Lord Shiva ".
It was on this day that Lord Shiva was married to his beloved Parvatiji.
Lord Shiva performed the grand " Tandav Dance " on this day.
People worship Lord Shiva, his shivling and his entire family on this day.
Devotees observe fast throughout the day and night. Fast can be observed as per one's capacity and soulful wish.
The entire day is celebrated singing praises of Lord Shiva and his family.
Chanting of the mantra " Om Namah Shivay " renders peace and bliss to the soul.
Lord Shiva temples are beautifully decorated with flowers and lights and are flocked with his devotees.
Shivji's favorite offerings are made on this day, which could be milk, water, honey, black til, curd rose water, sugar, fresh fruits etc.
Lord Shiva is one of the Hindu trinity and is the destroyer and re-producer of life.
Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvatiji are very innocent at heart and they bestow blessings on all their devotees immensely.

Pope Gelasius declared 14th February as Valentine's Day in 498 A.D
In early years people exchanged handwritten notes and poems as token of love and expressions.
Over the years, handwritten material got replaced with printed cards and sweet memoirs of love.
This day is celebrated very lovingly between lover's.
In today's day and age the significance of this day also extends to other relationships like friends, family and relatives.

This is the birthday of Prophet Muhhamad
It was the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal and a Monday or the 20th day of April 571 AD. This day is the third and the biggest of all Eids
Celebrated as Id-e-Milad - Milad-Un-Nabi or Maulid (Mawlid) is the day Prophet Mohammad was born in the city of Mecca in Arabia
The day is marked by illumination of mosques and distribution of sweets, when followers rise early, wear new clothes and share their happiness, especially with the needy. "Every Muslim is expected or should try to offer namaz and read the Quran on this day,".
Prophet advocated principles of peace, unity and brotherhood. It is a day for all of us to re-instate his teachings.

HOLI :- The festival of colours and water splashes .

Holi is widely celebrated across the country with excitement and is common amongst all sections of people.
There is no specific religious observance on this day. In the evening people lit a bonfire in prominent public area and worship it with coconuts , water and at times coins.
This bonfire is a symbolic to welcome spring and all good things of life.
On the following day people play with colours and water balloons and celebrate the festival with their families and relatives .
" Gewar and Gujjiya's " are the traditional sweet meats specifically prepared for this occasion.
